Let me introduce you to my Nine feathered fiends

(Edited: 18th April 2011 to include Sky, Blueboy, Lilek, Custard and Hector)

This blog is going to be all about my four Nine budgies.  Monty, Snowy, Jerry and Roswell…+ Sky, Blueboy, Lilek, Custard and Hector

This is Monty, he is the King and was here first, he’s a normal pet type budgie from a pet shop.  We originally got him in November 2009 with Eric who sadly passed away on 23rd January this year.  Eric and Monty were best friends.

This is Roswell, he’s an exhibition type bird and is a lot bigger than Monty, he’s from a breeder. We got him at the end of January 2010 to keep Monty company.

This is Jerry, he’s young, lively and pretty cheeky, we got him on 13th March 2010 from a pet shop to keep Roswell company!

This is Snowy, we got him at the same time as Roswell from the same breeder, he’s best friends with Monty also he also likes to play with Jerry, much to Monty and Roswell’s annoyance.

This is Sky, he and Blueboy arrived together on 5th October 2010 (our wedding anniversary!) we rehomed them from a nice lady as she did not have time to take care of them.

Here we have Blueboy, as I said he arrived with Sky on 5th October 2010, Blueboy likes to ping the bars a LOT!

This is Lilek (I call him Dumpling as he waddles and is slightly more round than the other budgies, not in a fat way but a cute way!) he arrived on 10th October 2010. His owner had previously had another budgie kept with Lilek but that budgie flew away so she wanted to rehome him with other budgies so he would be more happy.

This is Custard, we’re still not 100% sure on his/her sex but she squawks a lot and has attached herself to the Hunky Roswell so we’re saying she’s female! She arrived with Hector on 1st January 2011 (Happy new year us!)
This is Hector (he’s on the left!), as said before, he arrived with Custard on 1st January 2011.  Hector is bestest friends with Blueboy and they can often be seen flying around together, preening and feeding eachother!

    This is great!

I used to have budgies when I was a young ‘un and coincidently, one of them was called Snowy!

These are great, to be honest i’m not much of a bird fan (they scare me) guess its the whole flying & claws thing, however people that i’ve seen and been around birds who love them…are generally extrememly loving and kind hearted people themselves.

They only have little feet so their claws are pretty small and inoffensive.

I guess anyone that loves animals is.

Kind hearted that is – NOT small and inoffensive! 🙂

Aww! Just found your blog by way of tags and I had two budgies that were rescues….Blu Bell that is a female that looks like your Monty and Tynker Bell that looked like your Jerry….only sadly Tynker Bell passed and Blu Bell has been so sad but will not let another bird come near her….and I have my first rescue bird my lose lipped green cheek…Jade old lose lips isn’t his name just describes what he does all the time….he may have a limited vocabulary but he uses it all the time! I have a photo of him on my home page bottom right…he is a photo ham…..Blu Bell is another story as is my English spot rabbit Flopper also a rescue…but I am rambling….have enjoyed your blog and will most likely will be back to read more! thank you for sharing!

Hello, thank you for your lovely comments!
Your Green Cheeked (conure?) is lovely!
Do you have any photos of your Tynker Bell and Blu Bell? – Sorry to hear that Tynker passed on, it’s so tough when a pet dies. Hopefully Blue Bell will eventually let another bird get close, I believe that they grieve just like we do. Monty did after his Pal Eric died.

Great blog, i love seeing all the pics, and you add a little humour which makes reading all the better! I think i would have a soft spot for little dumpling if i was lucky enough to have your nine buds!
I have 6 budgies already (3 “second hand”) and after reading your blogs i think i might need to invest in at least another 3….!!
Great work, your budgies must be so happy living with you, in fact i dare say they must be some of the happiest budgies ever! You’re an inspiration to every bird owner, if only all bird owners cared for their birds as much as you clearly do.
    Thanks for the great read,

What a lovely comment Erika, thank you.

I hope they are happy! shame they can’t tell us!

    I love your budgies!

Your budgies are so pretty and are such a diverse colour range. I have five budgies currently and one of them is called Sky too :D. Mine also have a habit at staring down at you from my curtains. I’ve bred two of my budgies a couple of years ago and they produced two cinammon wing babies that we kept. Sky is my original budgie and is by far the tamest. Great blog by the way and I love all the different toys and equipment you have for your budgies. ❤

This is very familiar to me:

We are trying to get Abbie to stop biting the curtains, to no avail!

    • gris379 / Oct 16 2011 2:58 PM

Yep they just love to chew the curtains 😉 They were chewing the wallpaper for a while too but we repainted it so now they can’t. I’m at university currently so only see them when I go home so I miss them quite a bit 😦
