My favourite Dumpling Videos (For Zofia)

Dumpling is sitting on my arm squawking at me for attention as I type this, maybe he knows that this blog post contains some pretty fine videos of him.

He’s such a playful little character as these little shorts will prove.

Enjoy!

What have the budgies been up to?

Do you think those budgies in there would like to come out to play?
Roswell: Why would you take a photo of me from this angle, you loony?
Hector, Do you think I could lay eggs in that compartment below?
I was dozing and you woke me just to take a photo?

Home made stuff for the cheeky boys and girl

I got round to putting something together for the fiends.  I do hope they like them.  I am happy that they are bird safe 🙂

I want to see Abbie nibble them, then I will know that they have the budgies seal of approval!

Palm Leaf Shredders, separated into sections with intermittent wooden balls threaded onto a plaited piece of sisal.

Apple Chunkies, threaded onto Sisal with vegetable dyed cotton reels and wooden balls. Colored wreaths and baby teething rings made into a chain. "What are these doing here?" says Monty

Vegetables beginning with C

In my quest to teach the budgies to alphabet I decided that all vegetable matter given to them would begin with the letter C today.

So off to the Shop we rushed to purchase Chives and Corn.  This was served to the fiends along with Carrot and Courgette.

I think they were happy with the results. They are always happy to see corn – plus it’s 28p per cob in Asda at the moment!

New Bird in Town

It’s time to let the cat out of the bag, open a can of worms and several other silly sayings…

I rehomed a new bird.  Her name is Abbie (it was Albie but we felt it too masculine for such a pretty little birdie so we altered one tiny letter) and she has been here since last Wednesday.

Her owners didn’t have enough time to spend with her and wanted her to be with other budgies. She did have a cage-mate a few years ago but he escaped and she has been on her own for a few years – with human interaction of course.

Abbie is four years old and a hen, her genetic mutation is Dominant Pied, Violet – we hope that she will be very happy here.

She has already bonded with Jerry and Hector, allowing both to feed her seed, in fact she rarely has to venture forth for food herself, she has the boys well-trained.

Her habits include biting the bars and hanging upside-down which she does even more frequently than Roswell.  We have noticed that she doesn’t sing as much as the boys and she makes strange high-pitched sounds line a mini-dolphin!

Here is a photo of the pretty new recruit

I am a pretty girl - agree or I will PECK YOU!

An enthusiastic Hector

Hector always has plenty to say for himself and today was no exception.

He even managed to slip in a few of his characteristic “hops” which he does when he’s really excited or has a point to make.

I’m sure Blueboy (his best budgie pal) was very impressed.

Pay attention to me!

Monty decided he needed a little bit of extra attention today so he flew over to the husband and hopped up and down his arm and sang.

Whilst this was happening Dumpling (aka Lilek) was on my shoulder squawking in his best high pitched way right in my ear)

Gotta love ’em, they do like you to know how they feel 🙂

Dozy Dumpling

Dumpling decided that he wanted a head scratch and almost fell asleep while I did it.

A Dozy little Dumpling wanted a preen

Here are some photos of Snowy and Hector with Blue-boy that I took earlier.

Blue-boy and Hector decided that they wanted to sleep in the tiny pink Ferplast cage last night, they settled in for the night as I was cleaning up all the cages and wouldn’t come out.

Take the photo now I want to fly away
I am hanging in here with Hector, we have decided to keep this tiny cage as our own.

Posing for photos

Posing for photographs is easy when you are a cute feathery bird.

Who is making all that noise down there?

We need to have a meeting about Monty’s tail. I am concerned.

Did you ever see such an adorable budgie?
More adorable than a Hector?
