Montys Birthday Party

Monty has been with us for two years today!

I made Monty a lovely cake made from Egg, Broccoli and Carrot, with Corn and Dill Trimmings and two stalks of Dill as Candles!

MMMMMM Cake!

I then brought the cake in and sang the customary Happy Birthday song to the little Tyke while he stared at me mystified as to what I was doing.

But as soon as the cake was plonked down he made a wish!

I wish for more cake and more millet

Then theĀ hoardsĀ of adoring guests arrived to greet Monty and wish him happy birthday – he is a King after all.

Nom nom nom, compliments to the chef

I wonder if there's more?

What have the budgies been up to?

Do you think those budgies in there would like to come out to play?
Roswell: Why would you take a photo of me from this angle, you loony?
Hector, Do you think I could lay eggs in that compartment below?
I was dozing and you woke me just to take a photo?

Vegetables beginning with C

In my quest to teach the budgies to alphabet I decided that all vegetable matter given to them would begin with the letter C today.

So off to the Shop we rushed to purchase Chives and Corn. Ā This was served to the fiends along with Carrot and Courgette.

I think they were happy with the results. They are always happy to see corn – plus it’s 28p per cob in Asda at the moment!

An enthusiastic Hector

Hector always has plenty to say for himself and today was no exception.

He even managed to slip in a few of his characteristic “hops” which he does when he’s really excited or has a point to make.

I’m sure Blueboy (his best budgie pal) was very impressed.

Posing for photos

Posing for photographs is easy when you are a cute feathery bird.

Who is making all that noise down there?

We need to have a meeting about Monty’s tail. I am concerned.

Did you ever see such an adorable budgie?
More adorable than a Hector?

Daily Washing up Pile

As part of my budgie cleaning regime implemented since January I wash up all of the budgie stuff every evening – seed pots, toys, playgrounds, Soap dishes, anything that they have played with that day.

Playground
Toys and Clips!

Things get covered with dust, poo, food and who knows what else, my budgies don’t have the best table manners!

I read somewhere that budgies have the mentality of a 3 year old child – so that is nine 3 year olds chucking stuff about, playing and squabbling all day!

I choose to wash it all in the evening so that it’s all dry and ready for feeding and play time early the next morning.

As you can see from last nights pile, they do create a lot of work for me, but they are worth it!

New Balls Please

Go away I am sleeping
New Orange ball

Today is a lovely sunny day and the fiends are listening to some Spandau Ballet on the radio (Heart fm) while preening themselves and making lots of mess.

We got the fiends a couple of new balls, some millet and some treat sticks yesterday.

We found that the budgies seem to like Yellow and Orange toys the best so hopefully they’ll love the balls we got them, they are meant to be cat balls and have little paw prints on them and a tinkly thing inside.

We like to put them in their budgie soap dishes to play with. Ā Snowy really loves to sing to them.

Not sure that Custard appreciated me taking a quick snap of her while she was trying to snooze. Ā It was so cute that I had to though.

Meanwhile little Dumpling put on his bestest smart budgie face and told me a lot of stuff aboutĀ nuclearĀ physics that I didn’t know before. Ā He wouldn’t let on but I think he had been to the Library – or Idea Store as they are called here in TowerĀ Hamlets!

I know something you don't know. Dumpling uses his intelligent face.

Roswell obviously sneaked out to Toni and Guy to get his little quiff trimmed and gelled especially for these photos. Ā He must have heard hubby and I talking about getting some new batteries for the camera.

like my quiff?

Hector takes the plunge

It’s a lovely sunny warm day today, so I need to make sure the budgies little feathery selvesĀ remainĀ cool. Ā I put out some glass dishes on top of the Summer Palace, filled with water. Ā There is also a purple trough filled with water inside the cage.

Hector took great delight in dousing himself in water as soon as he saw it. Ā Snowy and Blueboy both had a look but decided it was best to leave Hector to his bath-time fun, very wise of them I think you will agree.

Introduction and Bio for each of the Nine Feathered Fiends

I decided to update the “Let meĀ introduceĀ you to my four feathered fiends” page because, well there are now nine and it’s been a while since there wereĀ onlyĀ four, so it only seems fair to include the other five. Ā I wouldn’t want to be accused of favouring one bird over another, no that would not be right!

NO Don’t go out again!

I have been out three times already today – once to the Post Office, then to Mudchute Train Station and then to see the Doctor, each time I got squawked at by Dumpling for leaving. He even tries to climb into my shoe as I am putting it on and flaps his wings at the Velcro as I pull it together.

When I got back from the third trip he had decided that I wasn’t allowed to go out again and attached himself firmly to my foot, determined not to let me move!

He is one determined little blighter isn’t he!
